This is the first energy news out of Colorado in a while that actually made me feel hopeful. Calling nuclear “clean” should have been common sense, but I get that politics can make simple things complicated. It’s good to see both parties finally agree on something practical.

I’m not in the energy business, but as someone who lives here and pays a power bill, I’ve been wondering for a while how we’re supposed to replace all the coal power we’re shutting down. Everyone keeps talking about wind and solar, but deep down most people know that’s not going to cover everything. We just want power that’s affordable and reliable. If nuclear can help do that, we should be looking at it seriously.

I also really respect the people who kept pushing for this bill after it failed the first two times. That kind of persistence is rare. Now I’m just curious what happens next. Are we actually going to start planning nuclear projects, or is this just a feel-good headline? I’d love to see SMRs considered at the old coal sites. Seems like a no-brainer, especially with the infrastructure already there.
